Men’s Softball Schedule
While most of the Peace players took a week off, some of the veterans participated in the “All-Star” game. Gary “Rembrandt” Johnson pitched a no-hitter, Gary “Go Go” Schmidt raced around the bases for three inside-the-park home runs, Don “Spark Plug” Spotts flew in from Fargo to contribute a grand slam and Jason “Hoover” Zimmermann turned two unassisted triple plays, which is really difficult to do when your pitcher throws a no-hitter. WHOA! That was an intense dream! In a back to reality moment, Peace lost 8-4, scoring only one run after the first inning. Tom “Foghorn Leghorn” O’Neill was the only player to collect more than one hit. In the ’50’s Boston Braves fans had a saying, “Spahn and Sain, then pray for rain.” Monday night, Peace fans were saying, “Johnson and Minke are really stinky.” after rotating pitchers every inning did not have the desired effect. Peace Men’s softball will play the at 6:20 PM at Centennial Park, the south field located at 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway.
